This is the first book in a wonderful series by Janet Biery, a very talented author. She is one of my favorite authors.
The Milch Bride By Janet Biery is great!
This is the first book in the Western Wives Series by Author Janet Biery. I found this an emotional roller coaster ride from sorrow to laughter and joy. I don’t think I have ever felt so many emotions reading a book. Ms. Biery’s talent is obvious to the reader as you journey through this story.
Story Line:
This is the tale of Hattie, who was brutally raped, bore a child that died from this rape, whose father died from the beating her rapist gave him, and hired as a wet-nurse to the man who becomes her savior, Jackson.
Prejudice, preconceived opinions, hate and down right meanness run rampant in this small community, and Ms. Biery did a wonderful job of skillfully revealing them in all their ugly righteousness. I cried over and over reading this book.
I have never felt such sorrow as this book instilled in me or such indignation of a fellow human being’s treatment. You must read the story of Hattie and Jackson journey through trials and tribulations to find a happy ending.
Character, Plotting and Development:
Ms. Biery’s pacing, plot, and character development was spot on in this well written book. Ms. Biery wove the threads together to form a compelling read, solve the mystery of who caused all this destruction and bring resolution to Hattie and Jackson.
I was so caught up in the story, I wanted to scream in the middle of the town streets.
What a wonderful love story of two people with strength and character who overcome all the odds and find happiness. Ms. Biery is one of my favorite authors; she includes many historical facts in her books.
Recommendation:
If you have not read Janet Biery, I suggest this book as good starting point. It is an excellent book. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a beautiful, poignant, love story. I suggest a strong cup of your favorite beverage and a box of kleenex.
