CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Fairfield Amish Romance collection entertains and provides a pleasant afternoon of reading pleasure. Each story in this book is authored by a different author. If you didn’t know they were written by different authors, you would think one person wrote them; they flow from story to story smoothly with similar writing styles. Each story’s skillfully developed and well-written.
Hannah, in Letting Go, matured by Vail to a person I would love to have as friend; and Isaac the perfect complement to her. Isaac’s a wonderful character of goodness, happiness, sweetness, and love of life. A story of why we should not try to force people to see our point of view and keeping in mind presentation of our points makes a difference. Allowing God to take hold as we let go, will always ensure a prefect result.
I loved Levi from Rebekah’s Quilt. He tried so hard and could not succeed; his depression was sad to see. What an eye opener when God opened Rebekah’s eyes to the real possibilities with Levi. In Unexpected Romance, Elanor Miller created a story of prejudice against the more liberal Amish and the English; showing prejudice comes in all communities and all forms. In Abigail’s First Love, Burkholder’s character, Abigail, ask the same questions all of us as teenagers ask. Demonstrating whether you are Amish or English we must all go through the same process of growing up. Burkholder showed the awkwardness of parents during this period of their child’s life. As well as, showing we fall back on the principles taught by our parents.
A sweet clean collection of Amish romance stories, I found myself involved with the realistically portrayed characters. Each story’s well-developed and the writing flows smoothly, making Fairfield Amish Romance an easy read. I loved learning more of the principles, family life, and beliefs of the Amish. This collection’s suitable for anyone who likes solid Amish romances.
