STORY-LINE GRIM ANGEL:

Grim Angel is an intense psychological suspense thriller by author Dominika Waclawiak.  Something strange is happening in the Sunshine Assisted Living Facility in the old, famous, and haunted Bockerman Hotel.  Once a prominent hang out for the stars and famous of its day, now has hit on hard times as a senior facility.  People are dying at an alarming rate.  Resident Barney Leonard does not believe his beloved Barbara died from natural causes.  Calling in the police and ghost hunters who bring along psychic, Sara Caine, everyone will get more than they ever thought possible.  For a serial killing monster’s at work, and he’s just getting started again.  My review of psychological thriller, Grim Angel, follows

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

First, I must say, do not read this book late at night.  The author has a way with words which will keep you up listening for things to go bump.  Combining law enforcement, paranormal, psychological elements, historical figures, and history, Waclawiak created a roller coaster ride for her readers. This creepy mind-bending book grabs the reader in the first few sentence as Waclawiak set the hook and twists it in deep.  I had chill bumps at times.

Writing the book from present to past and back again in different chapters, was a very skillful stroke for this story.  As well as, ramping up the suspense, the background snared me into the story-line seen from different perspectives.  The twists and turns seem to keep coming in every chapter.  Waclawiak had many plot threads to bring together to bring this story to its knee dropping conclusion.  Bringing in paranormal elements as well as horrendous war crimes added another level of psychological suspense to this novel.  By the way, Waclawiak included a hint of romance to satisfy those of us who like a little romance along with our murderous villains.

In concluding my review of Grim Angel, I found a well-written and developed story-line.  Beginning on day 1 through day 34, the reader will discover suspense which does not let up as Waclawiak packed a gang-buster story into those 34 days along with a decades-long trail.  I found the characters well-developed, the suspense kept at a high peak, and the resolution held until the last possible moment.  I love a good psychological thriller; Grim Angel rang all my bells and then some.

GRIM ANGEL RECOMMENDATION:  STARS 5

Without a doubt, this novel deserves a 5-star rating.  I could not turn the pages fast enough. I don’t think I will ever look at senior assisted living facilities the same again; you never know who is in the room next door. I would not hesitate to buy this novel for my self or a friend.
