This is a collection of Regency romances titled Love One Summer In Bath.  I chose to review Isabella Thorne and Gemma Blackwood contributions.

STORY-LINE HOPE FOR CHARITY BY ISABELLA THORNE:

In Love One Summer In Bath containing story, Hope For Charity, the reader’s treated to a short regency romance story set in Bath.  Lady Charity Abernathy’s looking for a husband.  However, Charity wants to marry for love and not social position.  Naive and young, she believes all the gossip she hears. Lord Wentwell, object of the latest gossip, reputation is one of a rake and rogue.  Upon meeting, Lord Wentwell, Neville Collington, Charity gives him the cold shoulder.  However fate has a different course in store for Charity.  Lord Wentwell’s reputation is not what it seems.  Come along with Charity as she discovers all gossip’s not true and love could be waiting in the wings.  My romance book review of Hope For Charity follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

I found Hope For Charity a sweet clean romance.  Although Charity’s character is a naïve young woman, she knows she wants to marry for loveSocial position mean little to her.  She has a caring heart which differs from most of the ton.  Neville’s allowed his reputation to flourish which will cause him a great deal of problems with Charity.  Furthermore, including the Neville’s brother, added an extra ingredient to the story;  as a result, allowing Charity to see a side of Neville the gossips did not.  We know today, the brother was a victim of PTSD.  Charity comes to see the true Neville rather than his soiled reputation.

Finally, in concluding my romance book review of Hope For Charity, I found a short solid story which entertains the reader.  The character developments well done, and the pace was in-line with the length of the story.  Although the author could not develop the story-line or characters in-depth as can be done with a novel, Thorne created a good clean romance in these short pages.  Perfect for a lazy afternoon of reading, I enjoyed this story by a talented author.  I would not hesitate to buy this book for my self or a friend

HOPE FOR CHARITY RECOMMENDATION:  STARS 4

SECOND REVIEW FROM COLLECTION

STORY-LINE AMELIA AND THE EARL BY GEMMA BLACKWOOD:

In Love One Summer In Bath, containing story, Amelia and The Earl, we find Miss Amelia Dane in Bath with her Aunt who takes the waters. She considers herself plain and a spinster at 25.  On the shelf and too poor to afford a season, Amelia had reached the ripe old age of 25 without meeting the love of her life.  Meeting the Earl of Banfield changes Amelia’s life.  Catapulted into the society of the ton by the Earl’s sisters, Amelia finds the Earl captivating.  Will love find these two?  My regency romance book review of Amelia and The Earl follows.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

Love One Summer In Bath continues with Amelia And The Earl.  Blackwood created a fine regency romance between the rich Earl and the poor spinster.  Following Amelia’s a delight as she discover love for the first time is a treat.  Blackwood’s plot, with heart-break possibly around the corner for Amelia, intrigues the reader.  I could feel Amelia’s pain and disillusionment. With misconceptions on both side, the reader wonders if they will ever come together.  Including a villainess, Miss Fortescue, had me gritting my teeth.  What a piece of work; scheming and conniving, Blackwood, created her character skillfully.

Finally, in concluding my regency romance book review of Amelia And The Earl, I found a solid sweet clean romance filled with secondary characters who added depth to the story.  The pace is in line with the length of book; authors can not develop a novella in the depth they can a full length novel, however Blackwood skillfully included everything needed to entertain the reader.  Perfect for a lazy afternoon I would not hesitate to buy this book for my self or a friend

AMELIA AND THE EARL RECOMMENDATIONS:  STARS 4

Conclusion: Love One Summer In Bath

Both books I read in Love One Summer In Bath, are sweet clean regency romances.  Each contained vivid descriptions of the regency era with well-developed characters and plotting.  I would love to read a more in-depth continuation of these stories and the characters lives from this point.  As a result, I would not hesitate to recommend this collection, Love One Summer In Bath, to  anyone who enjoys a good regency romance book.
