(The Seven Sons of Jethro Book 4)
STORY-LINE MAIL ORDER BRIDE: A LOVE DISCOVERED
Pierce Knerr and Noelle Boyd, a Pinkerton Detective, open Terri Grace’s latest tale. Noelle, one of the best Pinkertons, finds herself hunted by unsavory elements and her life’s in danger. Sent to Molly White, owner of Cozy Bridal Agency for safety, Molly has plans for Noelle. Molly, using subterfuge, wants Noelle to find Maurice White and decide if he is guilty of murdering his brother, Phillip. She’s really sending Noelle as a match for Pierce in Fort Walla Walla. Jethro is over the moon; he immediately likes Noelle. But he has a problem; he’s secreted Maurice away. How’s Jethro going to tell Noelle he’s hiding him at Alan and Cynthia’s house? What a sticky situation he finds himself in!
Pierce, an apprentice attorney, envies his brothers their passionate relationships; maybe it’s time for him to settle down, find a good wife, and create a family. When he and Noelle meet the attraction’s immediate. When Noelle takes Maurice back East, he insists on going as his attorney.
What will they find back East? Is he really innocent or did he kill his brother in a fit of anger? After all, his brother used him as slave labor and refused to give him his rightful share of the company. What about the men trying to kill Noelle? Did Molly and Jethro’s subterfuge work? Will affection bloom between Pierce and Noelle as they try to clear Maurice? My romance book review follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, AND DEVELOPMENT:
Although a sweet clean story, this is also a crime yarn. With skillfully plotting, Grace introduced the murder and criminal elements after Noelle. She held the villain’s identity close to her chest; not revealing their identity until the last possible moment in the story. The reason for Phillip’s murder and his killer’s identity took me by surprise. With an action-packed ending, Grace showed the strength and skill Noelle possessed.
With faith infused into the story-line, she did not preach or push the reader; faith is part of the Knerr family life. Grace skillfully wove several plot lines together to bring this tale to a satisfactory conclusion. I found her characters well-developed and the story-line entertaining. The scenes transitioned from scene to scene smoothly as did the flow of the story.
I enjoyed my journey with Pierce and Noelle. Grace’s continuation of the series is perfect for a lazy afternoon of reading. It entertains the reader, and the criminal elements added intrigue. Never fear, Jethro still has three sons to marry off. Although a stand-alone read, I would suggest reading the entire series as they are lovely clean western romances.
I love series in which we see continuing characters and catch up with their lives. I look forward to story five. As a book reviewer, as well as a reader, I would not hesitate to buy this story for my self or a friend.
