STORY-LINE MEND ME MEND MY HEART BY SUZANNE JENKINS:

Charlotte Baker has been widowed for five years;  raising her son and daughter alone.  Keeping Steve’s memory alive, they visit his grave on Sundays.  As the children are growing up, Charlotte finds herself at the cemetery alone;  where she takes a fall.  Coming to her rescue, hunky caretaker Matt Stewart, makes her think of things she hasn’t thought of in 5 years.  Things are falling into place, sometimes almost magically, for these two.

Something beautiful is in the air.  However, fate has a bump in the road in store for Charlotte.  Will this budding romance survive or will Charlotte faultier and walk away.  My romance book reviews follow.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

I found this book review easy to form in my mind and hard to transfer to paper.  I hope I do justice to this novel, and you run out to buy a copy.  Suzanne Jenkins always provides deep emotion, well-developed characters, and storylines which holds the reader captivated.  Although a love story, this novel is so much more.  She created a tale of love, loss, renewal, belief in things unseen, and second chances.  A pungent record of losing the anchor in your and your children’s lives, as well as, starting over and believing in second chances.

I found the characters developed to their full potential.  As well as,  Matt Stewart’s the perfect man for Charlotte.  He’s kind, wise, compassionate, and giving.  It doesn’t hurt he’s handsome as sin and known to some as “the hunky cemetery grave-digger.”  Taking a slow and easy journey towards love allowed Charlotte and Matt to grow closer and closer gradually;  it is almost as if it’s directed by other-world forces.

Throwing in Margaret, the villainess who’s jealous of Charlotte, was a crafty stroke.  You will love to hate Margaret;  I was grinding my teeth at her antics.  I wanted to shake her until her eyes rolled;  with friends like Margaret, Charlotte doesn’t need any enemies.  Never fear, her core of friends stands by her; extending help when needed.

In conclusion, I found the writing sweet, clean and filled with emotion.  I cried, laughed, sighed, and at the end, I closed my E-reader with a “feel good ” feeling.  The smooth, steady pacing and plotting held my attention from the first pages.  Bringing all the threads skillfully together, Jenkins formed a cohesive and compelling storyline;  suitable for anyone who loves to read a great love story filled with intriguing characters and a good plot.

MEND ME MEND MY HEART RECOMMENDATION:  STARS 4

I would not hesitate to buy this novel for my self or a friend. I look forward to other works by Jenkins.  She never disappoints the reader;  providing hours of enjoyment and entertainment.
