Historical Western Romance Novel

STORY-LINE:
In this Western tale, by author Kent Hamilton, the reader’s transported to the old west of 1868. Eliza left her father’s enterprise to seek adventure and explore life. Upon learning of her father’s death, Eliza returns to the Martin Ranch to find things are not as she expected. A prosperous ranch with many hands; the manager, Dave’s, a bully and mean as the devil. The second manager, Christopher, is terrified of Dave. Christopher has seen what Dave is capable of doing when crossed. Then you have Eliza, who knows nothing about running a ranch.
Taking upon himself to look out for Eliza, as best he can, without incurring Dave’s wrath, Christopher begins to fall in love with her. Eliza, terrorized by Dave and his hold on the crew, ask Christopher to help her. Will Christopher find the courage to battle for the ranch with Eliza? Can love bloom between these two? CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Although a short tale, I found the story engaging and enjoyable. Due to the length of short stories and novella, the author cannot develop the in-depth characterization and plot as in a novel. Whether a novella or short story, they feel slightly rushed due the author‘s limitations because of their length. However, Kent Hamilton created an exciting story-line and characters which were believable and realistic. With an interesting plot, the reader wonders, will good triumph over evil. Author Kent Hamilton crafted a super nasty villain, Dave, which you will love to hate.
Christopher’s character developed skillfully from a frightened young man to a mature, strong cowboy; he’s finally worthy to be called a man. While Eliza finds a core of strength, she did not know existed. In concluding my romance book reviews, I found a solid story perfect for a lazy afternoon of reading.

Additionally, A New Beginning is a clean, sweet, historical western; suitable for anyone who enjoys tales of the old west.
