How Do you Feel about Humor, Ghost, Love
If you like all the above, this book is up your alley!
Vesity Long’s life has been spinning out of control since her “almost marriage” to philandering Beau Wydell, son of Sugarland, Tennessee’s most prominent and wealthy citizen, reigning queen bee, Virginia Wydell.
That fiasco nearly costs Verity all her worldly possessions except for her car, she calls the land yacht, and her ancestral home. Don’t you just love what she calls her car? I could see it from the descriptions, a huge tank rumbling along.
Background Of Story:
In book 1, Vesity solved a ghost mystery, unintentionally acquired Beau’s great Uncle and former mobster Frankie as a reluctant ghost resident in her life, and after the break up with Beau started a secret fling with Beau’s brother, Deputy Sheriff Ellis Wydell.
Oh, and least we forget, Verity sees ghost, and in Sugarland there are lots of ghosts. Ms. Fox included enough background from book 1, that I felt continuity.
Suspension Level:
Things are not about to calm down in Author Angie Fox’s latest creation. Ms. Fox sat Verity, Frankie, and Ellis right in the middle of ghost central once again and murder most fowl during the annual town celebration.
Small town Sugarland, has a proud history during the civil war; two families warring for the most prominent place in said history, a yearly festival commemorating the bravery of the town during the battle, a documentary movie deal of said bravery, and secrets; secrets which lead to murder.
Character, Plotting, and Development:
The book is paced well and the plotting and character development was good. Ms. Fox kept the mystery under wraps until the end of the book and gradually revealed the reason for the murder, keeping the mystery at high peak. I never guessed the identity of the murderer as Ms. Fox crafted several worthy suspects.
The secrets of Sugarland are the backbone of this story, and what secrets they are, along with ghost, mysteries, murder, Verity’s vulnerability, and the budding romance between Ellis and Verity.
I love Ms. Fox’s sense of humor and her books are always fun to read; this one is no exception. Her talent is evident in the development of the story and characters.
Recommendation:
There is a lot going on in this book, and Ms. Fox wove all the threads together to form a cohesive tale. This is an easy book to read as you follow Verity through another ghost busting action filled tale, along with reluctant ghost buddy Frankie and new love interest, Ellis.
I recommend this book to anyone that likes a good solid ghost mystery. I received this book from the publisher and Netgalley in return for an honest book review.
Book reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion; book reviews on line under my name are my opinion.
