My paranormal book review of The Vampire’s Spell The Hunted, follows.
CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:
Author Lucy Lyons created a fast-paced action paranormal book in The Vampire’s Spell The Hunted. Basing her world loosely on our human world, with all the same prejudices, faults, jealousies, envy and greed. As well as, the deep caring and love which is found in both worlds. Lyons has a wonderful imagination.
Clay’s development in The Vampire’s Spell The Hunted, is awesome. He has come into his own; maturing as his responsibilities increase and his magic manifest more and more. Trying to build a secure safe place in the world of magical creatures for his pack, Clay finds friends in unlikely places.
I found myself liking Portia; hard, prejudice, with limited vision of what could be if she relented, she still helps the werewolves in their time of need. I look forward to what Lyons has in store for her in future books. Lyons‘ descriptions of her feathers and coloring is so vivid, I could see her in all her splendor in my mind’s eye.
As for the Wererats, I must admit I would not like to run in to a Wererat; mice and rats terrify me. Can you imagine a rat 4 to 5 feet tall? The thought alone makes my skin crawl. Tiny Baby Rowena’s character added a touch of humor; a darling with magical powers. I could see her memorizing Clay and reading her mother’s mind. What a story her book will be! I found myself wanting to slap the High Fae silly! What a group of prejudiced creatures Lyons created in them. Looking down on any creature who is not Fae, they especially hate the half-breeds.
With twists and turns, foes who seem as friends, a variety of characters, and a fast paced story-line, The Vampire’s Spell The Hunted held my attention from the first pages. Lyons scenes transition well and her writing’s easy to read. As well as, having an intriguing story line, Lyons included surprises for the reader. Her characters are well-developed and believable in her world of magical creatures.
Lucy Lyons had no need of fluff or sex to increase the page count or enjoyment of this book; her story telling talent and writing skill carried this tale. Thank you, Lucy Lyons, for a series I can enjoy; heat rating for this book would be zero as it is clean. As a result, this is a paranormal book suitable for anyone who loves Werewolves, Vampires, and various magical creatures. I would not hesitate to buy this book for myself or a friend.
THE VAMPIRE’S SPELL THE HUNTED RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4
