CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT:

What a story author Elliee Atkinson created in book two of the Family Of Love Series.  Author Elliee Atkinson faced the horror of physical and mental abuse head on.  With vivid writing, the reader feels Sarah’s desperation and pain as she’s abused by Jason.  I could feel her fear and disgust of him;  she can’t understand how he fooled her so well.  Elliee Atkinson skillfully displayed each emotion in her writing.  As Atkinson matured Sarah’s characters, I could see her growing and becoming more independent and secure;  opening up to the opportunity for a good loving man in her life.

Mike’s a man torn by grief for his deceased wife, Rachel;  isolating himself in the mountains, with his grief and memories of her.  Mike carries a huge load of guilt for Rachel’s death.  When he talked to Rachel I wanted to cry;  he carried on conversations with her all the time.  He’s a good man, strong and dependable; it’s sad to see him brought so low.  God had a plan for Sarah and Mike, one he put in place with the abuse by Jason.  As Mike and Sarah came closer and closer during his nursing of her, his character shined as a beacon for Sarah.   Creating two people in need of love and security, Atkinson skillfully crafted a romance you will love.

Atkinson created a truly evil character in Jason.  You, dear readers, will love to hate this man.  I wouldn’t even call him a man; he’s a monster who knows nothing except using his fist and abusive language.  As with a lot of abusers, he used his wiles to persuade Sarah he would be a good husband;  then he showed his true color which Atkinson vividly portrayed.

The romance in An Uncivilized Romance is sweet as Atkinson opened Mike and Sarah’s hearts.  Her descriptions were so realistic I could feel the love as it developed, the cold in the cabin, and see the landscape.  I could see Sarah rolling down the mountain, her grave injuries, and the indescribable pain she felt.  Elliee Atkinson‘s writing opened my mind’s eye with her vivid descriptions.  Adding in the dog’s a great stroke by Atkinson;  he added another element to the story line.  Also, we get to see characters from the earlier book and catch up on their lives.

With plotting which intrigues the reader, well-developed characters, pacing and a story line which kept me glued to the book, I loved this romance story.  Atkinson‘s characters are believable and realistic, as is, the premise of the story.   As a result the abuse is vivid, well-described, and painful to read.  In turn, the love developed between Mike and Sarah’s sweet, kind, and well-deserved by two people greatly in need of love.  I found Atkinson‘s writing style easy to follow; making this a book perfect for a lazy weekend of reading in your favorite chair.  I would not hesitate to buy this book for myself or a friend.
