Christian Romance Fiction At Its Finest

A Wonderful Book Relevant To Today

Author Mary Manners’ novel, Wisdom Tree, ask and answers many questions.  Does running from our problems ever work?  Can we out run the piper and must we face our problems alone?  Wisdom, when is it acquired, is there a certain age we suddenly become wise?  Author Mary Manners has penned a wonderful Christian romance novel in which each character will find the answers to these and other questions!

WISDOM TREE, STORY LINE:

Pastor Jake Samuel’s plate is full to over flowing with a rebellious adolescent brother, a Church to pastor, and the many parishioners problems and programs to supervise.  Into his life walks a beautiful woman who is his brother teacher, Carin O’Malley.

Jake is striving to parent Corey to the best of his ability while they are dealing with the sudden death of their parents. Corey is a typical under-achieving, always in trouble, hormonal, rebellious, full of attitude adolescent.  Carin is dealing with the death of first her mother and shortly after, her brother.

As a result, each has wounds and issues that color their life and relationships.  Carin ran from Nashville to find peace;  what is she afraid of and why did she run?  Corey is failing in school and rebelling against everything.  Jake is hanging on with God’s help doing his best to be the parent Corey needs and the Pastor God wants.

In addition Carin’s concerned about Corey attitude and grades,  Her first meeting with Jake on the church lawn is less than typical.  Not wearing the usual Pastor’s collar, Jake is mowing the lawn in old clothes, sweaty and hot.  Consequently, the devil is sitting on Jake’s shoulder during this meeting.  As a result, he doesn’t tell Carin he is the pastor; instead he invites her to church Sunday and a meeting with Pastor Samuel’s after service.

Come and join Jake, Corey, Carin as they journey through tribulations, death, grief, acceptance and find a firm foundation in faith and the wisdom to recognize the source of all their needs.  Is love waiting around the corner?  Come and find out.

WISDOM TREE, CHARACTERS, PLOTTING AND DEVELOPMENT:

First of all, Author Mary Manners has penned a story of grief, loss, renewal, faith, and love.  Ms. Manners aptly shows that grief does not have a time-table and each person grieves in their own way.  Consequently, some become closer to God, others pull away from him, while others rebel against everyone and everything.  This story follows Jake, Corey, and Carin as they deal with grief and loss.

Carin makes a timely appearance in Corey’s life and provides the support and encouragement he needs to begin the healing process.  As a result, Jake’s faith and steadfastness will encourage Carin’s recovery from her secrets and grief to find God’s grace, mercy, and her own self-worth.   Ultimately, Jake will find what God has in store for his future happiness was not the one that got away.

The characters were well-developed as they grew throughout the story-line in their life and personal relationship with God and family.  Also, Ms. Manners demonstrated that each of us needs a wisdom tree where we can reflect, renew and grow;  a place to speak our heart and listen in silence.

In addition, the plot and pacing was well-developed.  Ms. Manners included everything needed to create an excellent story.  As a result, Wisdom Tree has mystery, drama, and intense emotion as well as a sweet clean romance between Carin and Jake.   Also, Ms. Manners resolved all the crises and issue in a timely manner.  At times I cried, at others I laughed.  This is an emotion filled story.  Ms. Manners had many threads she wove together to form a cohesive story which you will not want to put down.

Finally, I found Ms. Manners writing style clean and refreshing;  her style and talent re-enforce the fact explicit sex is not needed to create a wonderful story.

To close the review of Wisdom Tree, I found this book well-written and the story-line will keep your interest from the start to finish.  As a result, Ms. Manners pulled me into the story and left me wanting more.  Consequently, I hated to say good-bye to these characters.

In addition, the devotional guide in the back of book is excellent.

WISDOM TREE, RECOMMENDATION:  5 STARS

I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a solid clean romance.  Also, you do not need to be religious to enjoy this book.  Furthermore, Ms. Manners does not preach or push the Christian belief, rather she lets her characters reveal their faith through the story-line.

Final Note:  I received this book from The Romance Reviews in return for an honest book reviewBook reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion; in addition, book reviews on line under my name and on my blog are my opinion.
